We are much saddened by the passing of Peter Marshall in August.
Peter was a long-time member of Sumner Lifeboat (now known as Coastguard Sumner) and a true legend in our local boating community.
He was an amazing mentor and teacher to many of our crew. His experience and wisdom was a real asset to our unit.
As a tutor for Coastguard’s Boating Education programme, he taught hundreds (probably thousands!) of people how to stay safe on the water through courses like Day Skipper and Boatmaster.
Peter will be deeply missed, but his immense impact and memory will live on.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this time.
